„În această lucrare, am transpus vizual ideea geniului neliniștit, a căutătorului de adevăruri absolute, aflat la granița fragilă dintre iluminare și distrugere. Inspirația inițială a fost mitul savantului nebun, conturat emblematic de Mary Shelley în Frankenstein, dar departe de a ilustra un simplu monstru literar, această creație devine un simbol.

Figura centrală nu este doar rezultatul unor experimente temerare, ci o alegorie a descoperirii științifice scăpate de sub control, un avertisment artistic asupra pericolelor pe care le poate ascunde progresul nesăbuit. Într-o epocă în care tehnologia avansează cu o viteză amețitoare, iar limitele eticii sunt uneori neglijate, tema savantului devenit prizonier al propriei creații este mai actuală ca niciodată.

Orice invenție născută din ambiția de a modela lumea poate deveni un monstru dacă este lipsită de responsabilitate. Istoria, la rândul ei, ne oferă exemple de descoperiri ce au sfârșit prin a amenința însăși existența umană. Așa cum Lucifer s-a ridicat împotriva Creatorului său, la fel și creațiile omului pot sfida ordinea naturală, întorcându-se împotriva celui care le-a dat viață.

Această pictură este, așadar, un manifest artistic despre limitele fragile ale științei și despre răspunderea ce îi revine fiecărui pionier în fața necunoscutului.”

“In this artwork, I have visually transposed the idea of ​​the restless genius, the seeker of absolute truths, on the fragile border between enlightenment and destruction. The initial inspiration was the myth of the mad scientist, emblematically outlined by Mary Shelley in Frankenstein, but far from illustrating a simple literary monster, this creation becomes a symbol.

The central figure is not just the result of reckless experiments, but an allegory of scientific discovery out of control, an artistic warning about the dangers that reckless progress can hide. In an era in which technology advances at a dizzying speed, and the limits of ethics are sometimes neglected, the theme of the scientist who has become a prisoner of his own creation is more current than ever.

Any invention born from the ambition to shape the world can become a monster if it is lacking in responsibility. History, in turn, offers us examples of discoveries that ended up threatening human existence itself. Just as Lucifer rose up against his Creator, so too can man’s creations defy the natural order, turning against the one who gave them life.

This painting is, therefore, an artistic manifesto about the fragile limits of science and the responsibility that rests on every pioneer in the face of the unknown.”

„În această lucrare, l-am pictat pe Frédéric Chopin – poetul pianului, arhitectul viselor sonore, compozitorul nocturnelor ce par șoapte ale sufletului. I-am redat chipul într-o nuanță ce-i reflectă esența, profunzimea și romantismul nopții, acolo unde visul său continuă să vibreze dincolo de timp.

Muzica lui picură în suflet precum o ploaie fină de armonii, trezind sensibilități adânci, deschizând inimile asemeni florilor ce se îmbrățișează sub razele lunii. Așa cum Chopin a adus poezia în muzică, am încercat să-i aduc un omagiu vizual prin această compoziție grafică, lăsând linia să vibreze pe hârtie precum sunetele pe clapele pianului său.

Un portret al unui spirit veșnic romantic, ce încă șoptește lumii povești despre iubire, melancolie și dor...”

"In this Artwork, I painted Frédéric Chopin – the poet of the piano, the architect of sonorous dreams, the composer of nocturnes that seem like whispers of the soul. I rendered his face in a shade that reflects the essence, depth and romanticism of the night, where his dream continues to vibrate beyond time.

His music drips into the soul like a fine rain of harmonies, awakening deep sensibilities, opening hearts like flowers embracing under the rays of the moon. Just as Chopin brought poetry to music, I tried to pay him a visual homage through this graphic composition, letting the line vibrate on paper like the sounds on the keys of his piano.

Bran Castle

Castelul Bran

„De pe culmea stâncoasă pe care veghează de peste șase secole, Castelul Bran privește neclintit freamătul vieții din vale. Martor tăcut al istoriei, zidurile sale masive poartă amprenta vremurilor tulburi, cutremurate de bătălii sângeroase și de cavaleri neînfricați ce și-au lăsat umbra însângerată în piatra rece.

Prin această creație, nu am căutat să redau imaginea fidelă a monumentului istoric, ci să reconstitui atmosfera încărcată de mister și de ecoul luptelor trecute. Sub cerul răvășit de spiritele celor ce și-au aflat sfârșitul aici, zidurile par să șoptească, pline de taine și suferință.

E un loc bântuit, unde prezența voievodului Vlad Țepeș încă dăinuie, furișându-se printre umbrele odăilor întunecate și în memoria colectivă a lumii. Un castel impunător, plin de enigme, menit să țină piept dușmanilor ce ar fi cutezat să năvălească pe culoarul Rucăr-Bran.”

“From the rocky peak on which it has been watching for over six centuries, Bran Castle steadfastly watches over the turmoil of life in the valley. A silent witness to history, its massive walls bear the imprint of turbulent times, shaken by bloody battles and fearless knights who left their bloody shadows in the cold stone.

Through this creation, I did not seek to reproduce the faithful image of the historical monument, but to reconstruct the atmosphere filled with mystery and the echo of past battles. Under the sky ravaged by the spirits of those who met their end here, the walls seem to whisper, full of secrets and suffering.

It is a haunted place, where the presence of Voivode Vlad Tepes still lingers, sneaking through the shadows of the dark rooms and in the collective memory of the world. An imposing castle, full of enigmas, meant to withstand enemies who would dare to invade the Rucăr-Bran corridor."

„Deși sunt un urmaș al nobilimii transilvane care a jucat un rol important în spatele acestei răscoale și cunosc în detaliu istoria Transilvaniei, nu voi insista prea mult asupra detaliilor. Lăsând această sarcină istoricilor, care au documentat-o în nenumărate lucrări, fiecare reflectând perspectiva și contextul politic al vremii în care au fost scrise, prefer să mă concentrez pe actul artistic. În fond, după părerea mea, singura istorie autentică este cea trăită, nu cea povestită. Desigur, aș putea scrie și eu un volum pe acest subiect, poate chiar mai veridic și mai real decât mulți istorici din prezent, dar ce sens ar avea? Un alt volum în plus? Așadar, mă rezum strict la exprimarea artistică, oferind această scurtă descriere care se aliniază cu subiectul abordat în pictura mea, din care reiese că nimic nu este întâmplător.

Ardealul – Transilvania – țara de dincolo de păduri… un pământ martir, râvnit și sfâșiat de-a lungul veacurilor, unde românii au trăit adesea ca o națiune „tolerată” în propria lor casă. În tăcerea munților și în unduirea dealurilor s-a păstrat demnitatea unui popor care, asemenea apelor ce curg domol dar sapă adânc, și-a lăsat amprenta asupra istoriei.

În 1784, suflul răscoalei a zguduit imperiul străin care apăsa greu pe umerii truditorilor pământului, iobagii. Horea, Cloșca și Crișan, cei trei lideri ai revoltei, au îndrăznit să ridice glasul pentru dreptate, știind că aleg calea sacrificiului. Drumul lor era fără întoarcere, iar cămașa morții – simbol al martiriului – le era veșmântul destinului.

În această lucrare, am folosit tehnica cuțitului pentru a sublinia dramatismul momentului și greutatea jertfei lor. Expresiile lor sunt grave, hotărâte, marcate de conștiința inevitabilului. Lumina și textura accentuează tensiunea și noblețea suferinței. Chiar dacă răscoala a fost înăbușită, iar liderii săi au plătit cu viața, sacrificiul lor nu a fost zadarnic. A fost o piatră de hotar spre abolirea iobăgiei și spre recunoașterea drepturilor românilor în propria lor țară.

Această lucrare este un omagiu adus memoriei lor, un gest de recunoștință pentru curajul de a înfrunta un destin aspru, pentru visul unei națiuni libere.”

Leaders of the Peasant Uprising in Romania, 1784

“Although I am a descendant of the Transylvanian nobility that played an important role behind this uprising and therefore know the history of this period, especially Transylvania, in detail, I will not insist too much on the details. Leaving this task to historians, who have documented it in countless works, each reflecting the perspective and political context of the time in which they were written, I prefer to focus on the artistic act. After all, in my opinion, the only authentic history is the one lived, not the one told. Of course, I could write a volume on this subject, perhaps even more truthful and real than many historians today, but what would be the point? Another extra volume? Therefore, I limit myself strictly to artistic expression, offering this brief description that aligns with the subject addressed in my painting, from which it emerges that nothing is accidental.

Transylvania – the land beyond the forests… a martyred land, coveted and torn apart over the centuries, where Romanians have often lived as a “tolerated” nation in their own home. In the silence of the mountains and in the undulation of the hills, the dignity of a people was preserved who, like waters that flow gently but dig deep, left their mark on history.

In 1784, the breath of the uprising shook the foreign empire that was weighing heavily on the shoulders of the toilers of the land, the Serfs. Horea, Cloșca and Crișan, the three leaders of the revolt, dared to raise their voices for justice, knowing that they were choosing the path of sacrifice. Their path was without return, and the shirt of death – a symbol of martyrdom – was their garment of destiny.

In this work, I used the knife technique to emphasize the drama of the moment and the weight of their sacrifice. Their expressions are serious, determined, marked by the awareness of the inevitable. The light and texture accentuate the tension and nobility of suffering. Even though the uprising was suppressed, and its leaders paid with their lives, their sacrifice was not in vain. It was a milestone towards the abolition of serfdom and towards the recognition of the rights of Romanians in their own country.

This artwork is a tribute to their memory, a gesture of gratitude for the courage to face a harsh destiny, for the dream of a free nation.”
