„Floarea lui Narcissus”

„Lucrarea este un omagiu adus acestei flori, al carei nume provine din grecescul "narke", însemnând " somn","narcotic".
Narcisa , floarea cu miros afrodisiac și petale albe și delicate ca de  mătase , amintește de legenda frumosului și singuraticului Narcis.Blestemat de Nemesis , zeița razbunarii , să se îndragostească de propria persoană , Narcis moare înecat încercând să-și îmbrățiseze imaginea oglindită în apă.Înflorită la moartea lui , narcisa a devenit simbolul iubirii ascunse , iraționale , pasionale.
Voi atșa acestei descrieri și legenda lui Narcis pentru cei care nu o cunosc încă.

Mitul și legenda lui Narcis

Legenda lui Narcis este una dintre cele mai celebre și mai fascinante povești oferite lumii de mitologia elenă. Conform legendelor grecești, Narcis este simbolul iubirii de sine, iar Narcisele ar fi aparut în momentul morții acestuia.
În mitologia vechilor greci, Narcis era un tânăr deosebit de frumos și de singuratic, fiul nimfei Liriope și al răului Cephios. Ghicitorul Cefise prezice că băiatul va trăi până la o vârstă înaintată dacă nu se va privi niciodată pe sine.Odată cu trecerea timpului Narcis se transformă într-un tânăr deosebit de frumos și atrăgător. De aceea reușește să stârnească cele mai înfocate iubiri. Frumusețea sa uimitoare face ca femeile care il priveau să se îndrăgostească iremediabil de el. Cu toate acestea, Narcis era insensibil la toată afecțiunea lor.

Dar frumusețea lui atrage nu doar privirea femeilor, ci și pe cea a bărbaților. Astfel, se spune că mulți dintre bărbații care l-au văzut pe Narcis s-au îndrăgostit de el.Din cauza disperării, chiar și prietenul său Aminias se sinucide. Nici aceasta sinucidere a lui Aminias nu îl mișcă pe Narcis, acesta rămânând insensibil.Tot ceea ce ii place să facă este să vâneze si să se preocupe de propria persoană.

Se spune că de frumusețea lui s-ar fi îndrăgostit și multe nimfe, dar nici una din ele nu putea spera că dragostea îi va fi împărtășită, pentru că Narcis nici macar nu le remarcase. 
Nimfele sunt alte creații ale mitologiei grecilor, fiind simbolizate adesea pe jumătate goale. Ele întrupează frumusețea și delicatețea izvoarelor, a pădurii, a întregii naturi. Protejează tot ce este tânăr și asigură rodnicia pământului. În majoritate fiice ale lui Zeus, acestea își petrec majoritatea timpului în grote. Cântă, dansează și fac parte din Curtea marilor zei și zeițe, precum Artemis. Nu sunt nemuritoare, însă viața lor durează câteva secole.
Multe nimfe se îndrăgostesc de el, printre care și nimfa Echo. Aceasta este blestemată de Hera, soția lui Zeus deoarece l-a ajutat pe stăpânul Olimpului să o înșele. Nimfa a ținut-o de vorbă pe Hera în timp ce Zeus o înșela. Aflând de acest lucru, Hera a pedepsit-o pe Echo, luându-i glasul, lăsând-o să scoată numai sunele scurte.

Echo îl urmărește pe Narcis în pădurea unde acesta vâna. Simțindu-i prezența, Narcis întrebă cu glas tare cine este în pădure. Nimfa nu poate decât să scoată ecoul spuselor lui Narcis (astfel se spune că s-a născut ecoul). Disperată că nu poate să comunice cu Narcis, Echo se aruncă în brațele sale. Surprins, tânărul fuge, iar nimfa, rănită de acestă respingere nu mai vrea să trăiască și moare. 

Astfel, fetele și nimfele îndrăgostite peste masură și respinse cer razbunare. Narcis a fost blestemat de zeița răzbunării Nemesis să nu poată iubi niciodată pe nimeni și să se îndrăgostească de el însuși. Acest lucru se și înfăptuiește și Narcis se îndrăgostește de propria sa reflecție în apă. Dorind să își îmbrățișeze propria reflexie în apă, Narcis cade în apă și se îneacă. Nimfele au venit să il plângă și l-au transformat într-o floare galbenă, care să le amintească mereu de iubitul lor. 

Astfel au apărut Narcisele, flori albe și galbene, care își țin capul în jos asemenea lui Narcis care se oglindea în apă.Narcis a murit deoarece nu a vrut să se dăruiască. În prezent există chiar și în dictionar cuvântul „narcisism” care reprezintă o admirație și dragoste exagerată față de propria persoană fizică, care constituie adesea o stare patologică."

„Narcissus' flower”

Author's description:

„The work is a tribute to this flower,whose name comes from the Greek "narcissus" meaning "sleep"," narcotic".Narcissa,an aphrodisiac smell flower and white and delicate silk petals,reminds of the legend of the beautiful and lonely Narcissus.
Under the curse of Nemesis,the goddess of revenge,to fall in love with his own person,Narcis dies drowning trying to embrace his image reflected in the water.Bloomed at his death,Narcisa became the symbol of hidden ,irrational,passionate love.
I will also attach to this description the legend of Narcissus,for those who do not know it.

The myth and the legend of Narcissus

The legend of Narcissus is one of the most famous and fascinating stories offered to the world by Greek mythology.According to Greek legends,Narcissus is the symbol of self-love,and Narcisa appeared at the time of his death.
In the mythology of the ancient Greeks,Narcissus was a particularly beautiful and lonely young man,the son of the nymph Liriope and of the Cephios River.
The fortune-  teller Cefise,predicts that the boy will live up to an advanced age if he never looks at himself.

With the passing of time,Narcissus turns into a very beautiful and attractive young man.That is why he manages to stir up the most ardent love.His stunning beauty makes the women looking to fell irreparably in love with him.
However,Narcissus remains insensitive to all their affections.But his beauty attracts not only the interest of women,but also that of men.Thus,it is said that many of the men who saw Narcissus fell in love with him.Because of despair,even his friend Aminias commits suicide.Niether Aminias' suicide did not move Narcisdus,who remained insensitive.All he likes to do is hunting and concerning himself.

It is said that because of  his beauty many nymphs had fallen in love with him,but none of them could hope that their love would be shared,because Narcissus had not even noticed them.The nymphs are other creations of the Greek mythology,being often symbolically represented half naked.
They embody the beauty and delicacy of the springs,of the forest,of the whole nature.They protect everything that is young and ensure the fruitfulness of the earth.
Most of them  Zeus' daughters,they spend most of their time in the grotto.They sing,dance and are part of the Court of Great Gods and Goddesses,like Artemis.They are not immortal,but their lives last for centuries.

Many nymphs fall in love with him,including the Echo nymph.This is cursed by Hera,wife of Zeus,because she helped the master of Olympus to betray his wife..The nymph kept her talking to Hera while Zeus was doing his plan.Hearing this,Hera punished Echo,taking her voice,letting her speak out only short sounds.
Echo watches  Narcissus in the woods where he was hunting.Feeling her presence,Narcissus asked with a loud voice who was there.The nymph could only make the echo of Narcis' sayings(so it is said that the echo appeared).Desperate that she couldn't communicate with Narcissus,Echo threw herself into his arms.Surprised,the young man runs away,and the nymph ,wounded by this rejection,no longer wants to live ,and dies.

Thus,the girls and the nymphs ,overwhelmed and rejected wanted revenge.Narcissus was cursed by the goddess of revenge ,Nemesis,can never love anyone and fall in love with himself.This is done and Narcis falls in love with his own reflection in water.Wishing to embrace his image,Narcissus falls into the water and drowns .The nymphs came to cry and turned him into a yellow flower,which always remind them of their beloved.

Thus appeared Narcisa,the white and yellow flowers,that  keep their heads down bent,like Narcissus who was mirrored in the water.Narcissus died because he did not want to offer himself.At present,there is even the word "narcissism" in the dictionary ,meaning an exagerated admiration and love for one's own person,which is in fact a pathological condition."
